One suggestion: subscribe to the "timeline" rss feed. To do this, go to:
http://idldoc.idldev.com/timeline
Check the items on the right that you want to keep tabs on. Select
"Update". Then go to the bottom of the page and hit the "RSS feed"
link at the bottom.

Yes. I've also thought about adding a "idldoc-dev" mailing list. Maybe
this would be more appropriate on that list? This list would continue
on as the "user" list.
